Ellen DeGeneres Takes a Stand Against Twitter Bullying

Ellen DeGeneres, the Daytime Talk Show host has been facing a backlash for appearing at a football game next to former President George W. Bush.

Ellen mentioned in her monologue that she and Portia de Rossi were invited to a Dallas Cowboys game by Charlotte Jones, daughter of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Ellen defended that when they were invited, she was aware that they will be surrounded by people from very different views and beliefs including Politics and when they entered the venue, she was seen in the suite sitting next to Bush and former first lady Laura Bush. Talking about facing heavy criticism on social media for appearing alongside Bush, she further said that she knows people are upset thinking why is a gay Hollywood liberal sitting next to a conservative Republican president?

She is aware that a lot of people were mad, “And they did what people do when they’re mad… they tweet,” she said.

‘Be kind to one another,’ is her motto she reminded people and explained that being kind is to be kind to everyone even people who do not share thoughts and stands same as you. “When I say, I don’t mean only the people that think the same way that you do. I mean be kind to everyone. Doesn’t matter,” Ellen said.

She agreed that she is friends with George Bush and many others like him who don’t share the same beliefs that she has. She continued saying that she understands that everyone is different and probably people have forgotten that it’s okay to be different and not hate people whom you don’t agree with. “…just because I don’t agree with someone on everything doesn’t mean that I’m not going to be friends with them,” she concluded.
