Pompeo says U.S. officials are focusing on release of two Canadians in China

OTTAWA – U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Thursday assured Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that American officers had been working to free two Canadian males who had been detained by China late final 12 months.

The pair, now dealing with espionage expenses, had been held after Canadian police picked up Huawei Applied sciences Co HWT.UL Chief Monetary Officer Meng Wanzhou in Vancouver final December on a U.S. arrest warrant.

“Please do be aware that our group is targeted on serving to these two Canadians be launched,” Pompeo mentioned initially of a gathering in Ottawa with Trudeau and Canadian International Minister Chrystia Freeland.
