Yankees sign Trevor Rosenthal

The New York Yankees have signed free-agent reliever Trevor Rosenthal into some minor-league contract. That according to Andersen Pickard, whose record was then confirmed by Jon Heyman.

Rosenthal was recently published by the Tigers, in which he pitched in ten matches, totaling nine innings, allowing eight runs of that seven were got. His period in Detroit came following a disastrous stint with the Nationals, where he enabled 16 runs on eight hits and 15 walks with five strikeouts in six and a third innings.

Why would the Yankees sign him? Why not? He is nearly liberated and, even though his 2019 results were catastrophic, he was a top reliever. If they could fix him at the past few months of Scranton’s year or determine what’s wrong with him down in Tampa or anything, they will have something. Otherwise, they will just release him. In this it is not really that different compared to their current signings of quite a few additional journeyman relievers such as David Hernandez and Ryan Dull.
