Pompeo says his U.S. team is focused on gaining release of Canadians in China

OTTAWA – U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, throughout a gathering with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Ottawa, stated his staff is engaged on getting two Canadian males being held in China launched.

“Please do word that our staff is concentrated on serving to these two Canadians be launched,” Pompeo stated “China must honor the commitments its made to the world… it’s incorrect that they’re being held.”

China’s embassy in Canada advised Reuters earlier on Thursday that Beijing-Ottawa ties have been struggling “gross difficulties,” and demanded Canada free Huawei Applied sciences Co Chief Monetary Officer Meng Wanzhou, who was arrested on a U.S. arrest warrant in Vancouver in December.
